Mill brick with 140 years on it
Hampden rowhomes went up for mill hands, 1880s to 1920s. Soft brick, lime joints. Many faces wear paint. Some were stripped back to bare brick.
Painted walls need a sharp eye. Paint holds damp in. We read each face: mortar state, paint state, brick state. Then we fix with lime and care.
